Membership

An individual applying for membership in the ASPS is requested to choose one from the following six types of membership.

1. Regular Membership: Regular Membership in the ASPS is available for 1 year ($80), 2 years ($150), or 3 years ($200) and includes the right to submit an abstract and register for our biennial conference, a subscription to the Journal of Persianate Studies, a subscription to our newsletter, invitation to talks and events hosted by the Association, the right to participate in Association elections, the right to attend business meetings, and regular announcements via our mailing list.
2. Lifetime Membership: Lifetime Membership in the ASPS is available for $1,500 and receives the same rights and benefits as a Regular Membership.
3. Persianate Societies Membership: The ASPS offers Persianate Societies Membership upon request at a 50% discount for members based in Persianate societies or ‘soft-currency’ countries. It is available for 1 year ($40) and includes the same rights and benefits as a Regular Membership.
4. Student Membership: The ASPS offers Student Membership upon request at a 50% discount for members currently enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program. It is available for 1 year ($40) and includes the same rights and benefits as a Regular Membership.
5. Persianate Societies Student Membership: The ASPS offers Persianate Societies Student Membership upon request at a 75% discount for members based in Persianate societies or ‘soft-currency’ countries who are currently enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program. It is available for 1 year ($20) and includes the same rights and benefits as a Regular Membership.
6. Free Membership: The ASPS offers Free Membership upon request for members based in and earning their income from Persianate societies or ‘soft-currency’ countries who cannot pay the fees for the above-mentioned memberships due to financial reasons, currency restrictions or economic sanctions. Free Membership is available to any applicant with the academic rank of Graduate Student or above whose research focuses on the history, culture, or society of Persianate Societies. Other applicants, who choose Undergraduate Student, Freelance Researcher, or Other in the Academic Position box on the Membership Form may apply, but their application will be subject to review (see the bottom of the Form for more details). Free Membership includes the same rights and benefits as the Regular Membership except Free Members do not receive a copy of the Journal of Persianate Studies. Free Membership is available for two years and may be renewed.

Institutional Memberships include a subscription to the Journal of Persianate Studies, a listing in the conference program during our biennial conference along with contact information, and one free conference registration. They are available for one year at $250, two years at $375, and three years at $550.
